So why at PrintDolls do we believe that screen-printing our artworks is so much better than digitally printing them?
We thought the best way to explain was to show you the difference visually, so we had our one of our artworks printed digitally for comparison.
Close-up detail images tell all...
The upper image shows a PrintDolls' artwork hand screen-printed onto our premium quality, unbleached, unprimed, 100% cotton artist canvas. Whilst the screen-printing allows the actual letters to have a subtle softness to their form, it's also simple to see how the natural colour, fleck and texture of our canvas retains the vintage charm of the original scrolls.
The lower image shows the computerised, digitally printed inkjet version (like those used by 'other' inferior scrolls). Typical inkjet print canvas is a bleached poly/cotton, and is always primed with a vivid white acrylic coating. Not only is the white background unnaturally bright, the coating has a plastic-like feel and appearance. It appears visibly shiny under light sources; those white dots you can see are reflected light, (and yes, both images were taken under exactly the same conditions), notice also the severely straight edges of the lettering. We think you'll agree - characterless!
